I felt like a lot of the previous drawings I had done from my henna/mendi design research was a little bit too standard. They all looked quite similar and I didn't feel like I was getting particlarly involved with it and experimenting with my own ideas. So I decided to do a few pages where I layed down some different collage material and experimented with my own ideas drawing the kind of designs that I liked the most.
These collaged background I did from different coloured pieces of paper and emulsion white paint. I had a go at getting a little bit messier and the design on the right of this bottom one I drew out random circles and shapes and drew different designs internally.
I do really like how these have turned out and it's inspired me to get a bit more creative with the kind of background i'm drawing on. Getting out different materials, such as collage and paints. Though I do feel like I'm beginging to exhaust drawing with just fine liners. So I think it would be worth trying out different media to actually draw with as well as the different backgrounds.
