I wanted to have a go at encorporating printing in my project somehow. I felt the shapes I were exploring would would well being printed and it would be a good chance to explore a different media. So I decided to have a go at lino printing. I picked this shape/design in particular because I felt it needed to be quite simple. Firstly because i'm not so familiar with lino cutting and secondly because it was a small cut of lino I was using and I didn't feel like there was much room for more detail
When doing the cutting it didn't occur to me that I was printing the negative shape. But actually I do really quite like how it looks. I like how clean, even and smooth look the printing gives. But I also like how when it hasn't printed as well the sort of patchy look it gives. I drew into one of the shapes with a fine liner to add more definition but really it's not entirely neccasarry. I want to have a go at doing some larger printing (probably not lino). They could work perfectly for background to draw on and I have loads of shapes that could work.
