Observational Drawing.

Carrying on with some observational drawing at college I had slightly less adornments to choose from. Fortunately I was wearing my watch. I wanted to get a bit more experimental with the drawings so I began again doing a simple line drawing. Not really stepping out of my comfort zone but it did help me get myself familiar with the object. I then had a go at drawing the object using masking tape. This did prove to be a lot more difficult. I used a blue ink wash over the top and I actually really like the outcome of this. I added a slight bit more detail with felt tip as it proved to be very difficult trying to cut watch hands out of the tape!

Folliwng the masking tape experiment I got out some collage materials and has a go at drawing the shape out of collage. This is something different for me as I usually use collage to create backgrounds not to actually create the shape itself. I decided to go with limited materials and keep it simple. I really like how the the watch looks simplified to these shapes, and I quite like how the brown paper and graph paper looks together as well. I definitely think this would be a technique I would consider using again.

I then moved on to draw some jewellry. This drawing below I drew the negative space of the rings to create the background and then drew the rings again with fine liner above.
